Greeting from my family to yours! My name is Shante Smedley, owner of Promise Kids Learning Academy, and I am honored and grateful to have this opportunity to care for young children. My family and I are excited to embark on this journey and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Our dream has been to guide young minds in a positive direction that fosters individuality and reaching their highest potential. Owning a child care center has allowed us to do just that and we cherish every moment.
I am a graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering Technology. After graduation, I worked for Hewlett-Packard before pursuing what I loved, educating young minds. I started my professional career in education in 2005 as a middle school ELA and Mathematics teacher while specializing in special education and English as a second language. After teaching for a few years, I earned a Master’s of Administration in Education and obtained my principal certification both from Lamar University. Outside of teaching, I have been an elementary mathematics and science Curriculum Instructional Specialist in Galveston County and Instructional Coach for Fort Bend ISD in the Curriculum and Instruction Department for Secondary Mathematics.
A little about my family…
My husband, Maceo, and I have two wonderful sons, Maceo III and David, who both attend school in Fort Bend ISD. Maceo III has had an acting career since the age of 4 and can now be seen on Underground, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Netflix Original All About the Washington’s and featured film Noelle.
